Hopping around the globe on a flight is surely exhilarating but driving around to explore new areas is an entirely unique experience that helps you get a more comprehensive understanding of where you are. Kamakura is a stunning coastal town about an hour south of Tokyo and is a delight for sea lovers and temple lovers alike. You can take a day trip here or even spend the night, look on popular platform for nice places to stay. If you’re more of a mountain person, then head southwest to Hakone. Here you can enjoy the fabulous hot water springs and views of the pristine lakes.
While Brisbane and Melbourne are fabulous cities to explore in Australia, we’re focusing Sydney because of the incredible driving experiences you can have when based out of this city. For the wine connoisseur’s, we recommend you head over to Hunter Valley. Located North of Sydney, you can visit one of the wineries and spend the day or, even book your stay at one of the estates if you happen to have more time. If in the mood for some activity, the Blue Mountains offer a tremendous range of walking trails and stunning towns. The roads are fabulous and incredibly scenic too.
The Cotswolds and Cornwall
You have probably heard endless amounts about the Cotswolds, but we feel the need to mention it again as driving here from London is an experience you certainly must have. The lush rolling hills adorned by unimposing little towns and villages make for delightful views and photographs. Visiting the area might make you feel like you’re a character in a Classic English Novel.
Cornwall on the other hand, offers you dramatic coastal cliffs alongside lovely coastal towns and beaches. This road trip may need a little more time, so remember to plan accordingly.
For an experience of the Spanish vineyards, head over to Priorat. Located southwest of Barcelona, this region has many picturesque towns and vineyards to explore. If you head North along the coastline, we recommend you visit the stunning beaches and enjoy views of the rugged cliffs in the Costa Brava region. Just an hour from Barcelona is the Montserrat monastery, which also makes for a perfect day trip where you can a hike and enjoy the beautiful views.
